Alan Williams from UC-Santa Barbara has been selected for StatSheet's Big West Player of the Week for March 4th. StatSheet's Big West Freshman of the Week goes to Isaac Fotu from Hawaii.
Williams led the Big West in rebounding (12.5 per game) and free throws (9.0 per game). He also tallied big numbers in shooting (50%), assists (3 per game), and scoring (23 pts per game). The UC-Santa Barbara sophomore put these numbers up in a victory versus Cal State Northridge and a loss to Hawaii.
Williams contributed 14 points and 9 rebounds in 34 minutes in a 70-66 loss to Hawaii. He then led all scoring and rebounding with a 32 point and 16 rebound performance in an 83-74 win over Cal State Northridge.
This is one of three StatSheet Big West Player of the Week awards for Alan Williams. He has also been named a runner-up once and received an honorable mention. The runner-up this week is J.T. Adenrele, a sophomore from UC Davis. Honorable mention goes to Chris Eversley, a junior from Cal Poly.
StatSheet Big West Freshman of the Week: Hawaii's Isaac Fotu
Isaac Fotu was on the floor an average of 34 minutes as a starter for Hawaii. He bested all Big West freshmen in both scoring (14.5 pts per game) and free throws (4.5 per game). In a late 70-66 win over UC-Santa Barbara, Fotu registered 2 assists and 60% shooting. In a 64-61 loss to Cal Poly, he led scoring with 17 points on 53% shooting.
This is a repeat honor for Isaac Fotu, making it the second time he has won StatSheet Big West Freshman of the Week. Brian Bennett from Cal Poly grabs runner-up. Michael Bryson from UC-Santa Barbara receives honorable mention. Tre Hale-Edmerson was the highest ranking freshman from Cal State Northridge and finished 5th. Cal State Northridge has yet to win StatSheet Big West Player of the Week.
