Tre Hale-Edmerson Wins the StatSheet Big West Freshman of the Week - February 4th, 2013

StatSheet's Big West Player of the Week for February 4th goes to Christian Standhardinger from Hawaii. Tre Hale-Edmerson has won StatSheet Big West Freshman of the Week. Also, Chris McNealy from UC Irvine is StatSheet's Big West 6th Man of the Week.

Standhardinger was tops in the Big West in rebounding (9.0 per game). He also had respectable numbers with 60% shooting and 20.5 points per game. The Hawaii junior played well for the Warriors in wins against UC Riverside and Cal State Fullerton.

Standhardinger led all scoring and rebounding for the Warriors with 23 points and 10 rebounds in a close 72-68 win over UC Riverside. That was followed by a team-leading 18 points plus an additional 4 steals in a narrow 77-75 win over Cal State Fullerton.

This is the first time that Christian Standhardinger has been named the StatSheet Big West Player of the Week. The runner-up this week is our own Josh Greene. Honorable mention goes to junior Josh Ritchart from UC Davis.

StatSheet Big West Freshman of the Week: Cal State Northridge's Tre Hale-Edmerson

Tre Hale-Edmerson averaged 25 minutes while starting both games for Cal State Northridge. His averages in both scoring (11.5 pts per game) and rebounding (9.0 per game) topped all Big West freshmen. In a 92-86 win over Cal State Fullerton, Hale-Edmerson rang up 17 points on 70% shooting. Then in a 69-53 win against UC Riverside, he added 6 points and 10 rebounds.

This is the second time for Tre Hale-Edmerson, who won the StatSheet Big West Freshman of the Week earlier this season. The runner-up is Isaac Fotu from Hawaii. Honorable mention goes to our own Brandon Perry.

StatSheet Big West 6th Man of the Week: UC Irvine's Chris McNealy

Junior Chris McNealy, a 6-4 reserve guard, averaged 22 minutes over two games for the Anteaters. In a 52-45 win against Cal Poly, McNealy got 8 points and 4 rebounds. During a last-minute 62-60 win against UC-Santa Barbara, he racked up 10 points and 2 rebounds.

Chris McNealy has won the StatSheet Big West 6th Man of the Week a total of 3 times. Ross Rivera, a junior forward from Pacific, is runner up. Rodrigo De Souza, a senior guard from Pacific, receives honorable mention. Cal State Northridge has yet to win StatSheet Big West Player of the Week.
