Trevone Williams Wins the StatSheet Big West Sixth Man of the Week - February 11th, 2013

Hawaii's Christian Standhardinger has been selected as the StatSheet Big West Player of the Week for the week ending February 11th. UC Irvine's Alex Young has been recognized as StatSheet Big West Freshman of the Week. And last but certainly not least, Trevone Williams has won StatSheet's Big West 6th Man of the Week.

Standhardinger was the Big West leader in rebounding (11.0 per game). He also registered great stats in shooting (70%) and scoring (20 pts per game). The Hawaii junior put these numbers up in wins versus Long Beach State and UC Irvine.

Standhardinger added 20 points and 13 rebounds in 35 minutes in a big 94-73 win against Long Beach State. He followed that up with a team-leading 20 points plus an additional 9 rebounds in a 78-72 victory against UC Irvine.

This is the second time this season that Christian Standhardinger has been named StatSheet Big West Player of the Week. The runner-up this week is Sammy Yeager, a senior from Cal State Fullerton. Honorable mention goes to D.J. Seeley, a senior from Cal State Fullerton. Josh Greene, who finished seventh, was the highest ranking player from Cal State Northridge.

StatSheet Big West Freshman of the Week: UC Irvine's Alex Young

Alex Young averaged 31 minutes starting both games for UC Irvine. He was number one among all Big West freshmen in both scoring (15.0 pts per game) and assists (6.0 per game). In a 70-61 loss to Cal State Northridge, Young tallied 10 points and 5 assists. Then in a 78-72 loss to Hawaii, he led all scoring and rebounding, putting up 20 points and 7 rebounds.

This marks the second time this season that Alex Young has won the StatSheet Big West Freshman of the Week. The runner-up is Michael Bryson from UC-Santa Barbara. Brian Bennett from Cal Poly takes honorable mention. Brandon Perry was the highest ranking freshman from Cal State Northridge and finished 6th.

StatSheet Big West 6th Man of the Week: Cal State Northridge's Trevone Williams

Sophomore Trevone Williams, a 6-6 forward, played an average of 24 minutes over two games for the Matadors. In a 70-61 win over UC Irvine, Williams added 14 points on 50% shooting. Then in an 83-80 loss to Long Beach State, he racked up 12 points and 7 rebounds.

This is the first StatSheet Big West 6th Man of the Week honor for Trevone Williams. Chris McNealy, a junior guard from UC Irvine, is runner up. Chris O`Brien, a senior guard from Cal Poly, receives honorable mention. Cal State Northridge has yet to win the StatSheet Big West Player of the Week award this season.
